SM City Cauayan is a shopping mall owned by SM Prime Holdings, the largest mall developer in the Philippines. The mall will be located along National Highway, San Fermin, Cauayan City, Isabela, Philippines. It will be the first SM Supermall in the whole Region 2, better known as Cagayan Valley. It is designed by EDGE Interior Designers and Arquitectonica.
The Cagayan Valley region is one of the few regions on the Philippines without SM Supermall, the well-known supermall in the country owned by Chinese tycoon Henry Sy. Isabela, the richest province among the 5 provinces in the region was the prospect of the SM Management as future site of the mall. Originally, it was supposed to be built in Santiago City, Isabela to be known as SM Megamall Santiago in 2009 but it was shelved due to some issues. The supposed mall location in Baranggay Malvar was given to SaveMore Market instead. On 2011, the site was transferred to Isabela’s other city which is Cauayan City. On November 8, 2012 SM Investments Corp. has set a P65 billion capital expenditures for 2013 for future SM Malls including the SM in Cauayan City, the expanded SM Megamall and SM Aura.Construction began in 2012 in the acquired lot of former Isabela Colleges, the mall is set to open on October of 2013.
