PNP OKs release of bonus
Manila, Philippines – The Philippine National Police has released P2 billion for the year-end bonus of its 148,000 personnel.
Director General Nicanor A. Bartolome, PNP chief, said funds have been downloaded to police regional offices for distribution not only to uniformed personnel but also to non-uniformed personnel.
“This year-end bonus represents 50 percent of the 13th month pay and other cash benefits mandated by law for all government workers,” said Bartolome.
The first tranche was released in May in time for the opening of classes.
Bartolome said the PNP immediately processed the release of the bonus after the Department of Budget and Management authorized the release of P1.932 billion.
But Bartolome said that the bonus will only be released to police personnel with no pending administrative and criminal charges.
“As a disciplinary policy, release of the 13th month pay to PNP personnel with pending administrative and criminal cases is deferred,” said Bartolome. (Aaron B. Recuenco)
